Status: Hyundai Motor Group acquired an 80 percent controlling interest in Boston Dynamics from SoftBank in June 2021, with a SoftBank affiliate keeping the other 20 percent. In June 2026 The Next Web reported that SoftBank's remaining stake was 9.65 percent, with Hyundai Motor Group affiliates and the group's executive chair holding just over 90 percent. On July 16, 2026, after SoftBank gave notice that it was exercising a put option, Hyundai Motor Group said that the group's shareholders in Boston Dynamics were pursuing the purchase of SoftBank's entire stake under the parties' existing agreements, subject to approvals and settlement; this review found no official confirmation that the purchase has closed.121413

Boston Dynamics sells robots and fleet software. It publishes the Spot SDK on GitHub under its own SDK license, which permits use only with Boston Dynamics products (and software simulators). Its 2025 Large Behavior Model post for Atlas describes no public model release, and this catalog has no record of public model weights from Boston Dynamics.161511
